The book is intended for use by students at the intermediate to advanced levels of English proficiency.
Each unit consists of an introductory article whose purpose is to inform and to guide students into forming opinions and a page of discussion questions. The one characteristic common to all of the topics is that they are controversial and invite argument to defend one's point of view. Experience has shown that confronted with such topics, even normally reticent students feel compelled to express their opinion.
