I noticed that my students have less problems hearing the missing words when I sing along (they are used to my voice and I probably pronounce it clearer as I know they need to hear it). And if you want to make them feel at ease you should sing along, all the time, to show them it can be done and that it is really fun. This whether you can sing or not, because that is not important here!!! Never make anyone sing alone or put them in a situation that might make them uncomfortable, it has to be fun to sing along. They can sing softly or loud, in tune or out of tune, half the sentences or everything - it is the effort that counts.
