Cyrillic to Latin

  1. #1

    Default Cyrillic to Latin

Any ideas or resources to help with teaching adults who are only used to the cyrillic alphabet to get used to the Latin one?
I am looking for anything that is more adult than 'a is for apple'.

    regards

    Lily

you can use the shape of the letter to make it match with a word with the same sound in Russian ( I supposed it's Russian because of Cyrillic but other languages use this alphabet). In English there are lot of flashcards using this technique. for example the shape of C looks like a co0kie without one bite... Else make a story (comic) so people can remember the sound of the letter, here is a website as an example, it's in Taiwanese but the pictures can give you some ideas ... http://aitaibun.pixnet.net/blog/post/24972236

bulgarianlily, since I'm Serbian, Bulgarian neighbour, I'll try to give you some idea. Cyrillic and Latin Alphabet have some letters the same, right. A is the same, E, K, M, O and T.

    HERE:

Here it's even better explained: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulgarian_language

Letter I with tilde is letter J, letter Ж correspond to words taken from French ending on -ge, like garage, entourage, massage

You need to associate word started in Bulgarian Cyrillic with pronunciation In Latin/English in this case

Let's take letter Б/B for example. Use your book and write бук/book pronounced and written on Cyrillic on the table or make .ppt presentation with it.
