This edition provides medical students, residents, and physicians a symptom-oriented approach to the evaluation and treatment of neurological disorders. Updated topics include neurogenetics, treatments, neurological aspects of AIDS, and stroke.
This book is quite complete and a good general resource for Neuro whether in a Neuro rotation or in Residency. It can be frustrating at times because it is not entirely complete (tracks are not covered well), and information is spread out in different sections of the book instead of being in one chapter. Overall though, not a bad buy.
Excellent book on Neuro for the healthcare professional that is not a neuro specialist. I am an ER PA and find this a useful refernce in everything from the neuro exam and it's etiology. This book has a similar format to the Current Medical Diagnosis and Treatment.
"All the major clinical areas of neurology are covered using a systems approach. From cell neurophysiology to the gross anatomy and physiologic correlates, the book covers the relevant clinical neurology. As an introduction, it serves as a good bridge between the basic science and the world of clinical neurology. Particularly helpful are the clinical vignettes in each chapter that reinforce the clinical relevance of the basic science material presented." "The book is one of the best in its category. It is very useful and is one of the most comprehensive, yet readable books for residents and students."
Provides medical students and residents with a strong foundation in basic neuroscience using a symptom-based approach with clinically oriented discussions of each disease. The updated Fifth Edition places special emphasis on parkinsonism, Alzheimer's disease, neurogenetics, management of stroke and aneurysms, and epilepsy.
