A question about state verbs
Hi
We know that the verbs like "To Love , To Know or to have are the state verbs but we hear "I 'm still loving her" or "I'm having a good time" or even "I was hoping to have some information"
How can you explain this to a student ?

Re: A question about state verbs
Some of these verbs can be used in continuous tenses but with a difference in meaning.
1. HAVE= own, possess He has hundreds of CDs.
HAVE= experiencing I am having a great time.
HAVE= taking She is having a shower.
HAVE= eating We are having dinner.
2. THINK= believe I think she's a very good teacher.
THINK = are considering We are thinking about going on holiday.

Thanks hritov;
Not easy to explain this difference. I was hoping to get more propositions !!
Anyway I'll have a look on that book.
