The TB provides step-by-step instructions for each activity with integrated key and audioscripts for easy reference. It includes guidance on which words may need explaining before students start a task as well as areas of potential confusion. There are alternative ways of presenting some tasks and plenty of extra activities which can be used to provide additional practice or be given to the students who finish early. It also provides additional Vocabulary development sections for each unit, to further develop the topic, or raise awareness of useful vocabulary to be found within one of the texts in the unit. The TB contains:

• Suggestions for alternative procedures, allowing for different types of learners and class
• Optional extra activities, with timings, to help you fit the material precisely to your lesson length
• Vocabulary development sections, exploiting further vocabulary from the reading or listening texts, or developing the topic
• Detailed exam information and regular tips on FCE
• Cultural information, especially useful for the non-native speaker teacher
• Language notes on particularly tricky areas
• Teaching tips to further develop your practice
• Planning pages to help you plan your lessons efficiently and to provide a record or scheme of work

The Test Master CD-ROM can be used by the teacher to assess students’ progress. The tests can also be adapted to suit the specific requirements of the class. It contains tests prepared by experts based on the content of the Coursebook. It has both computer data and audio files (for listening comprehension tests). It can be used in a variety of ways:

• Use tests as they are to test grammar, vocabulary and the four skills.
• Adapt tests to suit the particular needs of a class or individual student.
• Create new tests using the Test Master template.
