Modern English Practice (Book + Key)-modern English Practice is a book of grammar exercises divided into four sections/parts of grammar. Part One -Exercises on the articles, nouns, adjectives, adverbs, proverbs, interrogatives, conjunctions and prepositions. Part Two-Exercises on the tenses, Part Three-exercise on phrasal verbs (and compound verbs), The Passive Voice, Reported speech and sentence building and Part Four-Passages for Precis and Interpretation

This book provides, exercises in grammar, construction, idiom, precis-writing and comprehension. It is intended for foreign students who have got beyond the elementary stage, and should be suitable for those preparing for the Cambridge Lower Certificate in English and the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.
The exercises are divided into Lower and Higher grades.
Many of the exercises provide training in vocabulary, especially in that of essential words. The vocabulary used is that of natural everyday English. We recommend that before an exercise is attempted, the teacher should make sure that the students know all the words used in it. The exercises on tenses are extensive and cover most of the groups of tenses that students are liable to confuse. The exercises on idioms are restricted to the most common verbal idioms, which form an important and useful part of the English language.
It is recommended that the long "wordlist” exercises at the beginning of the book should be worked through in convenient small groups of approximately twenty words.
To make this easier, the words have been numbered.
The passages for précis are with a few exceptions taken from prose works of the modem period. They may also prove useful for reading and dictation exercises.
